Bars
Bar Tortue, situated upstairs within the Morabeza hotel, is a sophisticated and classy venue offering a refined choice of wines and spirits. Visitors flock to the celebrated happy hour between 18.30 and 19.30.
Access to Bar Tortue is via an intriguing, winding staircase which opens onto the main bar and restaurant area. The bar has a colonial feel with its inviting chairs and comfy, white cushions which complement the wooden features of the bar, walls, and ceiling beams. The open air bar overlooks Las Palmiers restaurant with its tall trees and white lights. You can hear the live music while catching an ocean breeze. . .
There is a great choice of bottled beers, wines, spirts and cocktails. The caipirinhas are also very good-- be careful they pack quite a punch.
The main bar is an ideal place to take a seat in one of the tall chairs, meet new friends, and exchange travel tips. The clientele is wordly and popular with French, Belgium and English tourists.
To the rear of the bar is the restaurant area with an A la carte Menu-- its theme is 'dishes from around the world'. Here you can choose local favourites like Catchupa Rice and Beef Curry. Desserts include Banana, Mango Flambee and the popular Cape Verdean dessert of goats cheese and papaya jam.
Also, don't miss the old, black and white photographs dotted around the bars walls which trace the history of Cape Verde.
